OVERVIEW
Our mission as Lapid Leaders Africa is to develop the next generation of African Leaders to be exceptional leaders in the marketplace, to be builders and to be change makers for the Continent.
The Lapid Leaders Experience brings together young leaders who are hungry, ambitious and passionate about being the builders and changemakers of Africa. The Experience provides the next generation with a platform to:
explore who they are and build their self-awareness
sharpens their employability and entrepreneurship skills,
explore and build their mindsets on varying issues affecting the Continent,
and ultimately cultivate exceptional character to be the leaders that Africa needs
The experience is intense yet fun, compact yet engaging; many have termed it as an experience of a lifetime.
WHO’S ELIGIBLE
We are seeking young, ambitious and focused leaders who are in college or university or have recently graduated from college or university (not more than 3 years since graduating). Young leaders who are fresh from high school and are looking to enter college in the coming months are also eligible for this program.
We have a separate program for young professionals with more 3 years of work experience.
THE CURRICULUM
We have taken a holistic approach to develop the next generation of African Leaders. Our Experience is divided into 3 levels, Level 1 is on the Lead Self pillar, Level 2 on the Lead Marketplace pillar and Level 3 on the Lead Africa pillar.
Each level takes 8 weeks to complete, with the classes being held on Saturday’s only.
Level 1: Lead Self [WHO]
»» The Lead Self pillar will help the participant to explore the question “WHO AM I”
»» The goal of the pillar is to build on self-awareness and self-discovery
»» The end game of the pillar is that the participant will have a clearer sense of who they are, clarify their purpose, build a strong sense of identity as Africas and inevitably build the self-confidence to be who God created them to be.
»» Ultimately, the pillar will release their potential and enable them to shape their future and experience the endless possibilities that they are innately endowed with
»» Modules include: Case for Leadership, Personal Leadership Defined, Introduction to Authentic Leadership (Freed2B Self), Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Business Opportunities in Africa, Design Thinking and several One-to-one Coaching Meet-ups
Level 2: Lead Marketplace [HOW]
»»The Lead Marketplace pillar will help the participant explore the question “how do I become an exceptional leader in the marketplace”
»» The goal of the pillar is to sharpen the job-readiness and entrepreneurship skills of the participants
»» The end-game of the pillar is that the participants will be work-ready [have the skills to look for a job and to be exceptional at the workplace], have clarity over how to build a thriving and meaningful career in the workplace and have the tools to be an exceptional entrepreneur
»» Ultimately, the participant will have the requisite competencies for a successful transition into business and/or the workplace
»»Modules covered: Communication, Problem Solving, Collaboration and Teamwork, Career Preparedness Bootcamp, Mock Interviews, Career Planning and Personalised Coaching, Business Modelling
Lead Africa [WHY]
»»The Lead Africa pillar will help the participant explore the question “why I should Lead Africa and what role I can play in building the African Dream”
»»Focuses on developing participants in builders and change agents
Modules: Critical Thinking, Personal Finance: Creating and Managing Wealth, Leadership Values and Ethics, Purpose and Passion, Brand Development for Start-ups, Marketing for Start-ups, Accounting for Start-ups, Capstone Projects, Business Coaching, Lapid Leaders Council and Africa Experience
On completion of the 3 pillars, the participants will be taken through a 3 week Immersive Experience (Practicum) in a local business or community engagement.
TIME AND COST COMMITMENT
We will give you everything we have and all we ask from you is to give us everything you have in return. We have a highly experienced and highly dedicated team of faculty, coaches and mentors.
All our alumni have identified this experience as a major turning point in their lives. This year we are running with the theme I AM BECOMING to symbolise the journey our alumni are on, having discovered who they are, having sharpened their skills, having become part of a community of young leaders that push them to be the best version of self, each of them can confidently say I AM BECOMING.
Time Commitment: 8 weeks per level broken down as follows:
The classes are on Saturday only.
In the course of the week you will be expected to engage in collaborative activities with your team.
You will also be expected to commit to 15 hours of community service (CS) with our partners. You will be provided with various options on when you can do CS, ranging from Sunday afternoon to a weekday, depending on your availability
You will be expected to attend one Coaching Lab (peer to peer learning session) per level. Coaching Labs are held on Sunday on a timing that will be agreed upon with your teammates
Cost: Shs. 15,000 per level
